History

In 1986, the company that would later on originate Jotoloveira was founded – Consultoria e Serviços para o Sector Automóvel, Lda. At the time, it provided a groundbreaking service to the auto sector Customers, making it easier for specialised operators to access, reinforcing quality controls and granting top convenience with vehicles home delivery and reception.

The perfect knowledge of the Customers needs and the quality of the operators offer, the permanent follow-up on the evolution of the auto sector and the new skills that were meanwhile acquired, caused that, in 1993, the company would embrace the production of the first Mystery Shopping studies ever carried out in Portugal, regarding the automotive.

Throughout the years, the company restlessly fought for an innovation strategy while focusing on the auto sector specialization option. Having cooperated with pretty much all the brands marketed in Portugal, Jotoliveira, Lda. performed studies that are today regarded as a standard, on both commercial and service areas.

In 1997, Jotoliveira, Lda. launched one of the first Mystery Shopping studies in Motor Shows, assigning a vast team of Shoppers so as to analyse the service granted by stewardesses and consultants of several brands, in Lisbon’s Motor Show.

In 1998, Jotoliveira, Lda. launched an innovative Mystery Client study in the Vehicle Operational Renting area, thus allowing a clear comparison of both strategy and proposals from the main market lessors. As far as this was concerned, the company then cooperated with RCI Banque, PSA Finance and Multirent. In the same year, the cooperation with the no longer in function Direcção Geral de Viação was also initiated, thus resulting in carrying out a groundbreaking Mystery Shopping programme, which was conceived to analyse the quality of service provided at the periodic motor vehicle inspection centres.

The service provided at Rent-a-Car branches began to be analysed in 1999, with a Mystery Shopping programme that was launched by Jotoliveira, Lda. for Avis Rent-a-Car.

In 2000, came the turn of Fast-Fit shops, along with the Mystery Shopping programmes dedicated to Stationmarché and Auto Center networks.

In 2003, another innovation came up, with the introduction of an AMT (Automotive Marketing Tool) multi-brand study that, through a permanent Mystery Shopping action, analysed RRPs, discounts, promotional campaigns, incentives and Sales Forces communication towards the final Customer. As the market competitiveness was rising, more and more brands signed up for this tool. Up to today, no Customer has ever suspended this service.

In 2006, and in cooperation with BMW Motorrad and Honda, Jotoliveira, Lda. launched the first Mystery Shopping studies dedicated to motorbikes, on both sales and after-sales areas.

In 2007, the first complete programmes for Mystery Shopping Workshops were launched at Dealerships, in spite of, in 1993, Jotoliveira, Lda. always having had a results presentation system working at the visited Dealerships facilities.

Nowadays, Jotoliveira, Lda. is a highly differentiated structure, unique in the world, exclusively dedicated to Mystery Shopping in the auto sector. It is able to organise activities wherever there is an interaction with the Customer, from commercial to after-sales sector, with different levels of technicality and logistics complexity, multiple settings and different approaches.
